Postmoda closed a seed (undisclosed) on an 8-slide deck — built for warm intros, not cold inbound. Consumer-coded aesthetic, broad headline. Below: when short decks work and when they don't.

Why this deck works

8 slides is short. That works only when every recipient already knows what you do — i.e. when the deck ships through warm intros. Cold inbound this short reads as undercooked.

What works The aesthetic is consumer-brand-coded: organic gradient + serif logo. That signals which investors the deck is built for — consumer-brand, retail-tech, or fashion-AI VCs — and self-selects out infra/SaaS investors who would have passed anyway.

The headline ("revenue and profitability using AI") is broad on purpose. It lets a follow-on slide narrow the wedge without committing the cover slide to a specific vertical.

Three things to steal

  1. Match deck length to audience. 8 slides only works for warm intros. Don't ship this cold.
  2. Generic headline + specific second slide. Broad headlines force investors to flip — that's a feature when you have curiosity, a bug when you don't.
  3. Match aesthetic to buyer. Consumer-brand language → consumer-brand investors. The visual is doing partner-selection.
